About Us

Born in 1992 from humble beginnings in Titoki on the Bell Street Campus of the Taranaki Polytechnic in New Plymouth, Te Korimako o Taranaki 94.8FM takes its name from the Korimako (Bellbird), a bird native to the Taranaki region. The station’s name reflects the unique and melodious sound of the bird, symbolizing the distinctive and sweet sound of our broadcasts.

Since its inception in 1992, Te Korimako o Taranaki has been a cornerstone of the Taranaki community, offering a rich tapestry of programming that goes beyond its general mix of R&B, Reggae, and Waiata Māori. This station has become a vital voice for the local Māori community, providing a platform for a wide array of shows that cater to diverse interests and age groups.
